A simple recipe for a super versatile and natural beauty product.

We use this balm year round, I always have at least one jar on hand, usually more. It's great for total body, face and lips included, and perfect for sensitive skin.

One of the first switches I made to more natural products were our lotions and balms. But natural lotions are expensive and hard to find in our rural area. I experimented with many recipes before settling on this one. We switch it up every now and again for fun but we never go without this balm. It was wonderful for my super sensitive pregnancy skin, brand new baby skin, and especially on extremely dry and chapped skin. No sting! I stock this balm for shows and frequently gift it, it's always a hit.

All Over Balm Recipe:

-Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup Olive oil*

  2. 2 Tbsp Avocado oil*

  3. 2 Tbsp Sweet Almond oil *

  4. 1 Tbsp Jojoba oil *

  5. 1/4 cup coconut oil

  6. 2.5-3.5 Tbsp beeswax - I use 3-3.5 Tbsp in summer and 2.5 Tbsp in winter, play around to find your desired consistency.

  7. 1 Tbsp Shea or Mango Butter**

  8. 2 Tbsp Cocoa Butter**

  9. 1/2 tsp Vitamin E oil

  10. Essential oils- please research and dilute properly, see instructions for some scent ideas.

  11. Optional - Neem oil- This isn't for internal use and should be avoided if you plan to put the balm on lips or little people's faces and worry it will end up in mouths. The small amount probably wouldn't cause any harm, but, better to be safe. However, neem is amazing for skin for hair health! (I use approximately 10 drops per batch)

*The first three ingredients can be substituted with a heaping 1/2 cup of any carrier oil of choice, or mixed and matched. This is just our personal favorite variation.

** The Butters may also be substituted with any combination or single butter equaling 3 Tbsp- Again, this is just our favorite variation.

-Instructions

  1. Using a double broiler, glass jar in a pot of water, bowl over a pot of water, or microwave safe dish - melt the ingredients together , except vitamin e, essential oils, and neem if using.

  2. Once everything has melted to a liquid state remove from heat and allow to cool around 10 minutes. You don't want it to start hardening but you need it to cool down a bit.

  3. Add vitamin e, essential oils, and neem if using. Stir well- We love a mix of lavender and lemon, tea tree and orange (avoid citrus if you plan to spend a lot of time in the sun), and spearmint.

  4. Pour into jar or container and allow to harden

*Because this doesn't have any water it will last much longer than water based lotions without any preservatives (yay!). I've kept it up to 6 months without any issue. Just use clean, dry hands to scoop it out and make small enough batches that you know you'll use up.
